Jan has been employed with Binns kitchen + bath design for the past fifteen years, but active in the industry for over thirty years! Successfully graduating from Georgian College as a qualified Interior Designer, Jan is one of only a handful of designers in North America that is certified as a CMKBD, Certified Master Kitchen & Bath Designer.

Jan was recognized as an industry professional when she was elected by her peers as President of the National Kitchen & Bath Association, Ontario Chapter. Jan does extensive volunteer work for the association and has won several awards including the coveted "Member of the Year" award and is presently a member of the NKBA’s Ambassador’s Club. In 2001 Jan became a member of ARIDO a professional organization for interior designers in Ontario and is now licensed as a Registered Interior Designer. Only those individuals who meet strict qualifications are entitled to call themselves Interior Designers.

In 2006 Jan received an "International Designer Award for Kitchens", winning first place for Canada at the Bathroom & Kitchen Industry Awards. Jan and her husband were flown, all expenses paid, over to Birmingham, England, were she represented Canada in an international competition against nine other countries (England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Holland, Sweden, New Zealand, Australia and the USA). In 2007 Jan received her second “International Designer Award for Kitchens” as once again Jan won first place for Canada at the Bathroom & Kitchen Industry Awards. This time Jan and her husband were flown over to London, England and again Jan represented Canada at the international competition.
